31st Jan - I've just discovered that the Bristol
Con clashes with the Komiks.DK event in Copenhagen.
As the Komiks.DK event only happens every two years Colin
and I have decided to go to that, and therefore miss the
Bristol event. This'll be the first time we've missed Bristol
Con since we started Accent UK, and is not a decision
that we've made lightly.
Discussions with Gal Editora have progressed well and
we are the 'contract signing stage'. In order to make the book
'thicker' but avoiding throwing in unrelated stories, the Tales
From The Parent's Basement guys have agreed that we can run
the 5 page prequel, The Longest Minute, which we produced
for their 'soon to be released' 8am Anthology, in the Brazilian
edition. Mauritio at Gal Editoria was only too
pleased to include it. We've also agreed with Steven Howard and
Dan Duncan to do pin-ups of Bobby Doyle, that'll also
be included, this should be a great little edition ... maybe I
should learn Portuguese so that I can really enjoy it
:o)
You can see Andy Bloor's pinup for the 8am
Anthology over on his blog at http://andrewbloor.blogspot.com/
... it's damn good.
When not busy doing pages for Strange Times, trying to
get ahead of things so that I can again focus on colouring and
lettering Stephenson's Robot, I've been practicing trying
to do convention sketches of more established comic book
characters. You can see the results of my efforts over on my
blog at http://strangestoftimes.blogspot.com/.
24th Jan - We're in discussions with Gal Editora at
the moment about translating Whatever Happened To The
World's Fastest Man ? into Portuguese for the
Brazilian market ... how cool would that be :o)
I want to wrap up PREDATORS by the end of the month,
so if you haven't updated me on outstanding contributions then
I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut them from the Contents list.
We will be printing it a bit later in the year than is the norm
but I need to move on and start to focus on VICTORIANA.
22nd Jan - Whatever Happened To The
World's Fastest Man ? is now available in all good UK comic
shops ... I've seen it on the shelf of Millennium Comics
in Northwich, which means it'll also be on sale in their Warrington
market stall. If you want to read a copy and you can't find them
in your store then please ask them to order a copy through Diamond
... it'll help our numbers and reputation with Diamond.
17th Jan - Copies of Whatever Happened To The
World's Fastest Man ? have now been dropped of at the Diamond
Distribution Warehouse in Warrington. They should be
available across the globe in 2 weeks.
The Tales From The Parent's Basement anthology 8am,
which includes contributions from a number of Accent UK
regulars, Marleen Lowe, Stephen Howard, Kirk
Manley, Dan Duncan and myself, is being sent off to
the printers soon. I'll be sure to get a number of copies
shipped over from the USA for the Cons over here. From
what I've seen so far it looks amazingly good.
10th Jan - Been busy lettering Issue 1 of
Stephenson's Robot, a difficult job as the words have to
cover up some of INDIO's! fabulous art.
Got sent the link to a review of Strange Times over on
http://forbiddenplanet.co.uk/blog/2010/strange-times-indeed/,
I hope to finish Book 2 much sooner than the estimated
2015, but it's a pretty good review.
3rd Jan - Happy New Year everybody ... well the
festivities are now over I'm afraid. Time to get back to work
... I'll spend the next week catching up on emails ...
