Accent UK Contributor - Dave West.
Who is Dave West ?
Dave West started creating his own comics back in the previous century (well, 1999) with 'More Than We Seem' which he co-created with Larry Betts. A science fiction tale in two parts, this comic survived 9 issues. Learning many lessons from this first venture, he realised that for a small self publisher the stories needed to be completed over fewer issues, and so he set out to do just that.

Forming Accent UK with Colin Mathieson and Barry Renshaw as a means to help each other out at conventions and the like, the collective soon decided that's it'd be great to produce a themed anthology every year. Collecting together stories from people out there in the UK trying their hand at (and in many cases succeeding in) producing their own comics. With the later loss of Barry Renshaw, who went off to focus on the excellent REDEYE, Dave and Colin have managed to edit and produce a themed anthology every year since 2001, with each one getting bigger and better, and more geographically diverse (in terms of both creators and where they are sold).

When not editing and creating stories for the themed anthologies, Dave's work started in little A5 mini comics. 'The Myopians' and 'The Myopians 2' and also his webcomic (accessible from this website) Strange Times, which is also collected as a nice little hardcover edition.

He also co-created Wolfmen with Andy Bloor, who provides full art, kind of 'Get Carter' with a twist. Wolfmen 2 is near completion and will see publication in the autumn of 2010.

Working with artist Marleen Lowe, Dave created Whatever Happened To The World's Fastest Man ? in 2009, which has received great reviews and will see publication is Brazil through Gal Editora in late 2010.

Current projects apart from those mentioned above include Wolfmen 3 with Andy Bloor, a Kane Mesmer story with Marleen Lowe, a collaboration with Steven Howard on a story about a changeling and of course Stephenson's Robot, co-written with Jon Ayre and illustrated by INDIO!.

You can contact Dave West through this website ... as maintaining this site one of his other little pleasures... or through his blog at http://strangestoftimes.blogspot.com/, where he gets the chance to do his interpretation of other characters.
